USB to GPIO

Post by janshansen »

Hi
Have an application for playing audiofiles called "SoundCueSystem10". SCS10 has an option for controlling external devices thru COM port or MIDI. PC is running SCS10 has only USB ports. The device I want to controll, has only GPIO input.

Will SUB-20 work as an interface in this case?
Is it possible to get SUB-20 to appear as an COM-port?
Is SUB-20 configurable to work directly from USB to GPIO?

Hi jan-s,

This depends on a GPIO switching speed you want to achieve, but in general - Yes
Is it possible to get SUB-20 to appear as an COM-port?
Although one of the interfaces that SUB-20 supports is RS232/485 the board does not appear under the Ports(Com&LPT) folder in the Windows device manager window, if this is what you meant in your post.
Is SUB-20 configurable to work directly from USB to GPIO?
I am not quite sure what do you mean by "directly from USB to GPIO"
