SW1,2 and LEDs

What can be done with SW1,2 and LEDs (any API for it) ?

LEDs are currently controlled by FW to show different statuses.
SW1 and SW2 has no API, none asked for it before.

What do you suggest? How would you like to use it (both LEDs and SW)?

I would like to have a counter to identify short/long push.
