And while at it, does anyone know how it is possible to achive "stand alone" operation?

What exactly do you want to do?
What interfaces do you want to connect?
And what features do you need in standalone mode?

Stand alone, means it stands alone, untethered. Like, give it power, perhaps a battery, and it runs the program. No USB required.
How else can one interpret "stand alone"?

That's right.
and it runs the program
Tell us what you want it to do and we will make a program that will run. How else SUB-20 can know what you want it to do without commands from PC.
