copied about 100 VHS tapes with total success

I have tried to copy 3 VHS tapes that did not copy and failed because of Copy protection.. I have also copied about 100 with total success. One of the failed was Needful Things and the others I can't recall but they are rather obscure videos, not a big name movie. I tried a number of times for each and no good. Is there any hope for making a copy of those 3, or are we dealing with the 3% failure thing.
